Iran 2-2 New Zealand: Just's double meets Iran's two comebacks in a thriller

Iran came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with New Zealand in Los Angeles, in arguably the most entertaining match of the World Cup to date. Neither side could find a winner, and both leave with a point in a tightly poised Group G.

Just and Wood torment Iran

New Zealand struck early and late through Elijah Just, the Motherwell forward, with Chris Wood the provider on both occasions. Just opened the scoring in the 7th minute and restored the lead in the 54th, twice punishing Iranian lapses.

Iran refuse to fold

Each time, Iran responded. Ramin Rezaeian levelled in the 32nd minute and then turned creator, teeing up Mohammad Mohebbi for the equaliser in the 64th. Iran pressed for a third, but New Zealand held on.

What it means for Group G
